Hobbies and Interests

  • Amateur Engineering: have designed and built numerous advanced devices such as hybrid rocket engines, Tesla coils, wind tunnels, and miniature particle accelerators as a hobby.

  • Writing: have published a collection of short historical fiction, Our Own Devices, and served as contributor and Chief Editor for the Iron Times engineering newspaper from 2007-2013.

  • Art and Graphic Design: regularly produce paintings, sculptures, logos, book covers, and theatre sets - both for pleasure and paying clients.

  • Tour Guiding / Presentations: regularly work or volunteer as a museum tour guide, and have twice won the Ontario Engineering Competition in the Technical Communications category.

  • Outdoor Sports: am an avid rock climber, skeet shooter, hiker, cyclist, and sailor.
