Canadian Pacific Air Lines was the aviation arm of Canadian Pacific Railways, which built the Canadian transcontinental railway between 1881 and 1885. The airline was formed in 1942 by the amalgamation of numerous small bush airlines, and operated as a major international carrier until it was absorbed into Canadian Airlines (Air Canada) in 1987.
